The optical communication unit is placed at the center, with two parallel metal strength members on both sides, oversheathed with black low-smoke zero-halogen (LSZH) material. It is then wrapped with an aluminum tape moisture barrier, and finally sheathed with PE (polyethylene) to form the cable.
