The GYTS53 optical cable is constructed by embedding 250μm optical fibers into a loose tube made of high-modulus material, filled with a water-blocking compound. The core center contains a metallic strength member. For certain fiber counts, an additional polyethylene (PE) layer is extruded over the metallic strength member. The loose tubes (and filler rods, if applicable) are stranded around the central strength member to form a compact and circular cable core, with gaps filled with water-blocking material. A double-sided plastic-coated steel tape (PSP) is longitudinally applied before extruding an inner PE sheath, followed by another longitudinally applied PSP layer and an outer PE sheath extruded to complete the cable.
