The GYFTY63 optical cable structure is constructed as follows: 250μm optical fibers are placed into loose tubes made of high-modulus material, with the tubes filled with waterproof compound. The core''''''''s center is a non-metallic strength member. For certain fiber counts, an additional layer of polyethylene (PE) is extruded over the metallic strength member. The loose tubes (and filler rods) are stranded around the central strength member to form a compact circular core, with interstices filled with water-blocking material. An inner polyethylene sheath is extruded over the core, followed by a layer of glass yarn wrapping, and finally an outer polyethylene jacket is extruded to complete the cable.
